Our philosophy
Colomba Fabio, Claudio’s father, came to Leuven in the early 1970s and established the iconic Pronto in the Mechelsestraat. An Italian business where generations of students gathered until the early morning hours.
After a fire devastated the original location, they relocated to the Muntstraat, where their success grew even more remarkable. Claudio had never planned to follow in his father’s footsteps. But when he was asked to lend a hand on weekends, something shifted. Gradually, a passion for the restaurant business began to take root.
He enrolled in hotel school to build a foundation, but felt that the basic knowledge it offered could be broadened. This led him to travel across Europe, working in various places to gain technical skills and develop his palate. The passion for cooking was there, but it still wasn’t enough to start a business of his own.
That changed when he met his wife, Davinia, and together they decided to open a small restaurant.
La Filosofia was born…
The restaurant offers traditional regional Italian dishes, each reimagined with a creative twist. A menu designed for sharing and enjoying food together in a warm, authentic Italian atmosphere.
Together with their team, Claudio and Davinia work tirelessly to bring you the finest food they have to offer.
